To drive excitement around the release of the 1984 audio drama, we’ll challenge the Twitch community to fight for their right to expression, freedom of speech and autonomy. We want to create a symbolic representation of the audiobook where AI plays the role of INGSOC and Twitch community need to challenge AI through a series of interactive moments, in order to go by passed and alter the course of the experience.

Truth HQ Official Broadcast channel has been created on Twitch, It streams propaganda messages. The stream features a room full of menacing, big TV screens with propaganda material scrolling through. It is controlled (and generated) by an AI called GAZE.

Three Twitch streamers have been involved as trio of characters that have to fight against the Big Brother, taking down the Truth HQ through 3 episodes:

CHAPTER 1 – THE ENGINEER AND THE DEVICE: First protagonist is an electronics expert who was responsible for setting up the wireless network of the Truth HQ. Thanks to his insight, he built a device that allows external access to that network. The objective is to infiltrate the network and obtain a secret passcode, enabling other rebels to access the network without the device.

CHAPTER 2 – THE OPERATOR AND THE ROBOT: Second protagonist is an operator in mission to deliver an infected disk into the mainframe of the Truth HQ. To achieve this he need to hack and control a robot that operates within the Truth HQ building.

CHAPTER 3 – THE ARTIST AND THE TAKEOVER: Third protagonist is an artist actively creating anti-propaganda photographies in the confines of his workplace. He has amassed hundreds of pictures over the years, and it is up to him to let it all out into the world via the Propaganda stream.

AFTERMATH  – MODEL CITIZEN: The streams are reclaimed by GAZE one by one. The screens then emit a short material about the long-running history of the broadcast, which never had any interruptions and was maintained in perfect condition by three model citizens: the Engineer who designed the system, the Operator who runs the studio and the Artist who creates all the wonderful propaganda imagery.  The material is complemented by posters of the streamers, portrayed as model citizens who just adore Big Brother.
